Australasian Biospecimen Network Association

It is with great pleasure that we announce that the Australasian Biospecimen Network Incorporated was formed on 9th July 2009 under the Associations Incorporation Act 1981 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The Australasian Biospecimen Network Association (ABNA) is an enduring network born out of the ABN-Oncology and is open to all individuals within the Australian and New Zealand biobanking community. Statement of Purpose of the Association THE AUSTRALASIAN BIOSPECIMEN NETWORK

1. To provide an opportunity for individuals who have an interest in tissue banking and biorepositories to come together to share relevant and non-confidential information to assist in improving their operational efficiencies.

2. To provide education and technical assistance to individuals new to the area of biorepositories.

3. To provide a structure and focus around which the Australasian Biospecimen Network Association will continue to expand and attract a diverse range of members within the broad biobanking community of Australia .

The ABNA is a non-profit scientific association with voluntary membership in Australia and New Zealand, and the ABN-Oncology sub-group is partially funded by an NHMRC Enabling Grant.
